Death the Kid X Reader: Best Friends

*Note: You are a meister. Your weapon is a girl named Fay. I didn't put what weapon type she is or that much of a physical description because it doesn't come up.



It was just another normal day in the DWMA. The sky was clear, students were talking, and as normal Black Star was boasting about how great he is. My weapon, Fay, stood beside me as I shook my head at Black Star’s pride. Fay gently pushed my shoulder as she noticed three people approaching us.

“’Sup Kid, how are you?” I asked my best friend as his weapons waved at us.

Yep. Death the Kid was my best friend. We’ve known each other for years and I happily got along with Patty and Liz when he convinced them to be his weapons. Fay got along better with Patty and Liz then I did, but that was okay. Some people wondered how I could stand Kid with his obsession over symmetry for so long; I’ve even wondered that myself.

Waiting for a reply from Kid, he just looked at me and then walked off into the school. I stood there confused as to why Kid didn’t respond. Fay, herself, looked just as surprised. Patty and Liz stood in front of us.

“What’s up with him?” I asked still very confused at my friend’s behavior.

Liz stretched her arms and placed them behind her head as she addressed my question.

“Don’t know. He’s been like that for the last couple days. I think it might have something to do with your past mission,” she answered lazily.

Our mission wasn’t anything serious. I was pretty simple: stop a kishin egg from becoming a powerful kishin being.  It was a tough battle, and one of the few times that Fay and I went out alone/ without Kid, Patty, and Liz.

“Yeah, because Kid was worried about you~” Patty said while smiling.

This made me even more confused. Fay was already ahead of me.

“Why would he be worrying about her?” Fay questioned. We were too similar for our own good.

“Because Kid li-” Liz slapped a hand over Patty’s mouth preventing her from finishing her sentence.

“Well, ha, I think we should go and see what Kid’s up to now,” Liz said quickly while pushing her sister away from us as she was waving.

“That was strange,” I commented watching them leave.

“Today is going to be a strange day,” Fay mentioned.

“Let’s just go to class,” I started walking forward to the school doors with Fay right following behind me.

It was the end of the day and I had barely seen Kid at all and when I did he wouldn’t answer me when I talked to him. Heck, we sit next to each other in class and he completely ignored me today. Why he being like this?

I was walking with Fay down the hallway to leave school. She was talking about something Tsubaki had mentioned to her today, but I was too deep in thought to hear what she was saying. I was awakened out of my trance-like state by Patty’s shouting.

“Hey! _____! Fay!” Patty yelled getting our attention immediately.

Fay and I just stood there watching Patty and Liz dragging Kid against his will towards us. He was shouting unrecognizable things and trying his hardest to not come over by us. The trio stopped in front of us. Then, it got even stranger. Liz and Patty proceeded to grab Fay and drag her off in an unknown direction, similar to what they did to Kid.

“Kid, sort it out or we will screw up everything symmetrical in your house!” Liz screamed as she was leaving. Kid almost passed out at that threat, but thankfully he didn’t.

“Why are you ignoring me over some stupid mission?” I asked slightly angry over his weird behavior.

I stood there waiting for him to do or say something. He just stood there looking at his shoes. I had enough of the thick tension between us and I punched both his arms in the same place; so I wouldn’t have to deal with his symmetrical obsession.

“I was worried about you!” He finally answered, holding his hurt arms.

“Why? You know Fay and I are perfectly capable of completing a mission!” I yelled at him.

“I didn’t want the girl I liked to get hurt!” He responded loudly.

We stepped back from each other in shock at what just happened. We were blushing slightly, him more then I. I do admit that I have felt something for him for a while, but I have never acted on it in fear of our friendship being lost. Now, I have nothing to lose.

“Kid, I like you too,” I admit with the blush worsening on my cheeks.

His golden eyes brightened and a smile spread across his face. He stepped towards me and lightly placed a kiss upon my lips. He stepped back and held my hands in his.

“Would you like to go on a date with me?” He asked nicely.

“Most definitely,” I answered, “We should probably go and find our partners and thank them.”

“Yeah, we should,” he responded.

We headed off in the direction they went to find them.
